Using Tools for Sports; Videos That can Help

Photographs are cherished depictions of memories, people and happenings, but, they can also be used as a good teaching tool in sports. Especially videos, since a moving picture can show the exact movement or step a player makes, helping them to see mistakes or how they’ve performed well.

Performing well is as important as playing at all. If a player doesn’t do well, they don’t feel good about their performance, or themselves. And sometimes a player feels s/he didn’t do well but the pictures show otherwise, so this can also help with that player’s self esteem and confidence building.

Using Videos as a Team Sports Tool

Not only that, but it’s great to have these photos and videos to show to other family members, like parents that can’t attend the games. Sports can be shared with anyone this way, and the athletes get a repeated self esteem boost whenever it’s shown to someone.

On the same token, a video can be shown to the coach and entire team to highlight mistakes or prove good moves as a whole. Most parents that video their child-athletes get the other team members (or whole team) in the video as well. It can be used over and over again to teach which moves were right and which weren’t, and they can even be used year after year, if the person doing the taping gives up a copy to the coach. Many coaches are far too busy keeping an eye on their athletes and the game to do the taping themselves.

So, do the coach a favor; tape the games and practices and then offer to share the films for the team’s benefit. Don’t showcase a personal favorite athlete, tape everyone in the game for the best results and usability. Make a copy so it can also be shared with those family members that can’t make it to the games.
